Welcome to The LAA

THE LABRADOODLE ASSOCIATION OF AUSTRALIA INC.

Reg. A0039798P

Melbourne Australia.

The purpose of the LAA is to protect and nurture the future of the Australian Labradoodle throughout Australia and the world, for successive generations and to work with the National Kennel Club of Australia (NKCA) towards the goal of full recognition as a pure breed. In the year 2000, the LAA went into recession due to lack of committee support. 2003 has seen a swell of interest both in Australia and abroad and a new committee is in the process of being set up as of April 2003.

The LAA Office Bearers and Committee Has Been Appointed. Please see below.

BREED STANDARD (Unrevised)

FROM THE LAA PRESIDENT Beverley Manners.

February 2003 was a history making month for the Labradoodle, with the first worldwide teleconference-taking place to discuss the setting up of the new LAA committee. Peter Schriejver from Apparition Labradoodle Kennels in Holland, convened and chaired the teleconference.
A big thank you goes to Peter for organizing and setting this up!

The LAA has been dormant for the past two years and it is exciting to see the swell of interest and the renewed offers of help come pouring in from across the globe.

Eleven people were online for just over an hour and many ideas were discussed, including the setting up of international bodies, each to be affiliated with the parent body, the LAA. It was agreed that the new Associations, although affiliated, would act independently in the decision-making processes of their own country or region, and would keep their own databases of records.

The Australian Labradoodle Association of North America (ALANA) was represented by Dorothy Demoreaux of Primetime Labradoodles, who is their President.

Everyone present expressed their hopes that the Breed Standard (due for revision), as well as the coding method for progression of generations, be universally consistent - with major decisions being a combined democratic effort. It was also agreed by those taking part in the teleconference, that a delegate be appointed from each international affiliate, who would hopefully participate over time in decision making meetings held by the LAA.

Due to the expensive nature of the teleconference, time was too restrictive to allow for the actual election of the committee of the LAA. It is now hoped that Peter may soon organize a second teleconference at which time another agenda will be set which will help set some definite plans into motion.

Following the next teleconference, bulk email is seen as an effective and more cost effective way in which to keep all interested parties in touch with each other and any developments which may occur.

According to Federal Law in Australia, any Association registered in that country may have only Australian residents as Office Bearers for the Association. However, it is my understanding that 'ordinary' committee persons may be residents of other countries.

Memberships are now being accepted from anyone interested in becoming a part of this historic phase of the Labradoodle.
